This piece is made from plain straight grained wood, so it needed something special to spark it up. I dyed it red, then when it dried I dyed it black. Very gentle sanding with very fine sandpaper cut thru the black enough to reveal the grain of the wood. From a distance the color appears to be solid black, but up close the details of the wood grain become apparent. Late 2000s.
