Step 5:
Preparing to put chains around the piece to pick it up from the lathe.
After securing the chains around the piece, it then fell the rest of the way to the floor. If it had fallen all the way to the floor when the spindle broke, I would have probably been severely injured by the boring bar which was trapped inside the opening and in fact, is still wedged in the piece.
