Pondering about my luck in avoiding disaster/injuries.
After I had fabricated a new larger spindle for the lathe, and modified the tailstock etc. to match, finally I am resuming hollowing. About this time I decided to mount the switch on a magnet and install a longer control cable so I didn’t have to trek to the back end of the lathe to turn it on/off. Also I had to fabricate a countershaft to speed up the motor so it would develop more power at the lower speeds that I was using to turn.
